The aviation sector in the UAE is looking ahead with optimism towards 2023 as it anticipates a significant growth in passenger traffic. According to recent readings, the sector is expected to witness a tangible increase with an estimated 134 million passengers, showcasing a promising outlook for the industry.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the General Civil Aviation Authority, expressed confidence in the future of the aviation sector. He highlighted that in the past year alone, the number of incoming passengers to the country’s airports reached around 38 million, with approximately 37.805 million departures and 58.328 million transit passengers.
This substantial growth is attributed to the active resurgence of tourism activities, coupled with major international conferences hosted by the country in the last quarter of the year, which garnered immense success and significant international attention.
The expansion projects underway at the UAE’s international airports, particularly the opening of the new Passenger Terminal (A) at Al Zayed International Airport and the ongoing developments at Al Maktoum International Airport, are poised to enhance the travel experience for passengers.
This, in conjunction with the increasing number of flights and destinations serviced by national carriers, signals a positive trajectory for the aviation industry in the UAE.
As the nation continues to make strides in reviving its aviation sector and welcoming travelers, the forecast for 2023 indicates a resurgence of pre-pandemic levels of passenger traffic, instilling a sense of confidence and optimism within the industry.
