Data from the Kazakhstan statistics bureau showed that the wheat growing area in the country amounted to 13.72 million hectares, an increase of 6.5% over 2022.
The bureau recorded an increase in the area of barley cultivation from 2.18 million hectares to 2.55 million hectares, corn from 189.3 hectares to 193.9 hectares, oats from 198.7 hectares to 216.36 hectares.
At the same time, Rye cultivation decreased from 34.8 hectares in 2022 to 21.78 hectares in 2023.
The area of cultivation of cereals and legumes in Kazakhstan this year amounted to about 17.38 million hectares, which is almost 8% higher than last year.
