South Korean and Singapore companies on Friday discussed ways to collaborate in digital platforms and technologies and ways to advance together in the relevant global market, the industry ministry in Seoul said.
According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, some 25 digital companies, as well as dozens of others from the two countries, held the first dialogue on the digital economy in Seoul, where countries moved to strengthen their relations in the digital world by signing a bilateral digital partnership agreement last year, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Participating companies have shared their business experiences regarding financial technology, cloud services and other digital solutions, as well as digital platforms and digital technology development, and have explored ways to join forces to create new jobs.
On the sidelines of the dialogue, the Deputy Minister of Trade, Jeong Deh Jin, met his Singaporean counterpart, Jane Lim, and agreed to work closely together to respond to rapidly changing global trade conditions by strengthening bilateral cooperation in the digital economy, supply chains, green energy, etc., according to the Ministry.

The pace of trade between the two countries in the digital sector has recently accelerated. For example, Hyundai Motor, South Korea’s largest automaker, signed an agreement with telecom giant Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel), to deploy its latest 5G solutions to Singapore’s innovation hub, which includes an electric vehicle production facility.
