The Government of Uzbekistan has announced its plans to import 1.285 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from Tajikistan from May until September 2023.
Uzbekistan’s national electricity systems and Barki Toujek, Tajikistan’s national energy company, signed the agreement in mid-May under which electricity will be imported.
According to the Uzbek company, Uzbekistan returned to importing electricity from Tajikistan in 2018 to maintain a continuous electricity supply to consumers.
Uzbekistan’s national electricity network says the state imported electricity from Tajikistan in intermittent periods from 2028 to the end of last year 2022.
