Pakistan’s finance minister, Isaac Dar, said Pakistan would share details of its future budget with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in order to release discontinued funds.
Dar said in a press interview: “They asked us for more details like budget details and we will give them.”
The IMF’s $1.1 billion in funding for Pakistan, part of a $6.5 billion rescue package agreed in 2019, has been stalled since November.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Pakistan held two weeks of talks in February in Islamabad to conclude the ninth review, but the lender has not yet released the funds, which is critical for the South Asian country to facilitate bilateral and multilateral financing.
Dar said he wanted the IMF to release the funding before the budget was submitted, which is scheduled for early June, adding: “We are not going to do the ninth and tenth review together, it is unfair.”
