OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid began a tour of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan that will run until June 8 and include meetings with senior government officials, parliamentarians and civil society.
A European organization statement said on Wednesday that in Ashgabat the Secretary-General will meet with President Serdar Berdi Muhammadov of Turkmenistan and Acting Foreign Minister Viba Khadjev.
In Bishkek, the Secretary-General will hold meetings with Kyrgyz President Sadir Zaparov, Prime Minister Akelbek Zaparov and Foreign Minister Zinbek Kolobiev.
In Astana, Schmid’s agenda would include meetings with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, Senate President Mullen Ashembayev and Deputy Prime Minister-Foreign Minister Murat Nortlow of Kazakhstan.
