The States of Qatar and Uzbekistan plan to establish a joint working group between the two countries and to adopt a joint programme on trade and industrial cooperation that includes joint mechanisms and projects.
The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan disclosed to Zeez Kadratov a plan in addition to organizing the visit of the Qatari business community to Uzbekistan in June to hold a joint business forum.
In his remarks, he noted that the volume of trade between the two countries does not rise to the volume of bilateral relations, as it did not exceed US $4.8 million last year, according to Qina.
The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade stressed the need to develop joint actions to increase bilateral trade by ensuring its diversity, including ensuring the effective and timely implementation of all existing agreements between the two States.
He also called for the identification of new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, cooperation between the two countries’ business entities, the identification of barriers and solutions to increase trade.
Pakistan’s Minister of Investment and Industry conducted an official visit last May, discussing with Qatari officials ways to enhance cooperation in several areas.
The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan stressed the two countries’ considerable economic and trade potential, but it was still not used to increase current bilateral trade and investment indicators up to 10 times in the near future.
