The head of Tajik Foreign Information Department, Shukhin Samadi, revealed the issue of the Republic’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union is not currently under consideration.
“The talks between President Imam Ali Rakhmanov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov did not address the issue of his country’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union,” Samadi said, according to media.
He added that during the meetings in the capital, Dushanbe, emphasis was placed on the issues of strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation and regional security, as well as on interaction between the two countries within the framework of international organizations. The issue of the Republic’s accession to the Union was not addressed. “
