Pakistan’s fuel oil exports are steadily increasing as the South Asian country moves to get rid of this polluting fuel and rely on nuclear energy instead to generate electricity in the country.

Refineries in the country are leading the process of increasing Pakistan’s fuel oil exports after the country was a fuel importer; after the increase in fuel oil stocks, refiners no longer have another option but to export.
Pakistani fuel oil exports amounted to about 277 thousand tons during the fiscal year ending in June 2023, compared to exports of 54 thousand tons during the previous fiscal year, according to data from the Advisory Council of oil companies in Pakistan.
Pakistan had exported 164 thousand tons of fuel oil in April 2023, which is the largest volume of its exports since 2017, according to figures; it did not import any fuel oil during the past March and February.
