Huawei China announced the Mate 60 Pro phone, which represents a new milestone in China’s technological capabilities, as it includes an advanced chip designed and manufactured in China despite US export restrictions, which were imposed under the administration of former President Donald Trump, and continued with the administration of current US President Joe Biden, and aims to prevent China from achieving technological progress.
The launch of the new Huawei phone coincided with the visit of Gina Raimondo, the US Secretary of Commerce, which the Washington Post described as a show of defiance, as Chinese state media announced that it proves to the United States that the trade war is a failure.
The move raised Washington’s fears that the US sanctions have failed to hinder China from making significant technological progress, which confirms the warnings of US chipmakers that the sanctions will not stop China, but will push it to redouble its efforts to manufacture alternatives to American technology.
Huawei has launched its new Mate 60 Pro phone at a price of 900 euros, which includes specifications that compete with industry giants iPhone and Samsung, especially since it excels in the value-for-price equation, it is much cheaper than its strong competitors.
The Mate 60 Pro comes with Huawei’s harmony OS with Huawei’s Kirin 9000s processor as well, with 12GB RAM and 256, 512 or 1TB internal memory, and supports calling and sending messages by satellite, without the need for a phone network or SIM chip.
