The American agency “Bloomberg” confirmed that the restrictions imposed on the export of equipment involved in the semiconductor industry to China, did not prevent Beijing from developing advanced chips for smartphones.
This has led to increased concerns in the United States, where there is growing concern within the government about the failure of hard-line technology policies, according to the agency.
In this context, the US agency saw that “Huawei”, the Chinese technology giant, is retaliating at a time when China is succeeding in reducing the gap in semiconductors.
Bloomberg reported that “Huawei” has been the focus of US attempts to undermine China’s technological development for years.
The agency pointed out that the” Mate 60 Pro “smartphone released by Huawei, in late August, is unusual, according to the standards of the hardware sector.
Instead of talking about the device at a marketing event, the company quietly began to sell it online, according to the agency, as “Huawei” did not even reveal many key technical specifications.
Despite this, the company exhausted its stock of the phone within hours, as the US agency reported. According to her, this has inspired a wave of patriotic celebrations in China.
When the Mate 60 Pro went on sale during the visit of US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo to China, Chinese nationalists considered the new phone a blow to Raimondo and her country, because it includes an advanced home-made main processor, “7-nanometer chips,” Bloomberg added.
The US agency pointed out that these chips are those produced by the world-leading company, located in Taiwan, “TSMC”, which was the reason for Taiwan and others to advance over China in this field.
While US export restrictions were aimed at keeping Beijing’s technical capabilities 8-10 years behind Washington, the new phone showed that Huawei’s chipmaking partner, Shanghai’s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, may be only 4 years behind.
