Uzbekistan and Russia signed agreements to expand cooperation in the field of oil supply as well as the supply of oil products by rail.
The agreement on expanding cooperation in the field of oil supplies was signed by Uzbek Energy Minister Zurabak Mirzamakhmudov and Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov.
Uzbek Transport Minister Ilkhum Makhmumov and Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev signed an agreement for the supply of petroleum products by rail.
“For petroleum products, this will be an agreement that guarantees uninterrupted supply, and the supply of petroleum products will be carried out by one company,” Shulginov said.
“The second agreement is necessary so that the companies have priority in rail delivery,” he added.
Following the results of the Russian-Uzbek negotiations, the parties consider cooperation to strengthen energy security as a long-term fulfillment of mutual interests.
The oil and gas industry will continue to build new infrastructure facilities and reconstruct existing infrastructure facilities for the transportation of natural gas and oil, including from jointly developed fields, build and modernize new power generation facilities, and develop the renewable energy industry.
At the end of April, the Uzbek Ministry of Energy reached an agreement with Gazpromneft to import 300 thousand tons of oil in 2023.
