China’s oil imports rose in September as refiners boosted their purchases ahead of the Golden Week holiday, continuing their upward trend recorded since the beginning of the year.
According to data from the General Administration of customs of China, incoming oil shipments to China increased by 14% year-on-year during September to 45.74 million metric tons, or 11.13 million barrels per day.
However, September import levels are 10.5% lower than August imports of 12.4 million barrels per day.
Imports increased ahead of the expected strong demand for fuel for mobility purposes with increased travel traffic on the Golden Week holiday, which began at the end of September.
