Kazakhstani authorities have not banned the shipping of any commodities to Russia in response to anti-Russian sanctions, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Trade and Integration’s press service.
“With regard to information published in the media concerning a prohibition on selling 106 types of commodities to Russia owing to sanctions, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration formally declares that it is incorrect,” the ministry said.
“Kazakhstan-Russia trade relations are governed in accordance with the principles of the Eurasian Economic Union Agreement. There have been no limitations on the export of any items to Russia in conjunction with anti-Russian sanctions,” the ministry added.
“The trade in so-called dual-use commodities subject to export restriction is carried out in compliance with Kazakhstan’s international commitments, according to the press office,” according to the ministry.
“In compliance with Kazakhstani legislation, an appropriate license should be secured for exports, imports, and transit of such commodities.” The export control system is a subset of commercial policy that requires the obtaining of licenses for the import, export, and transit of dual-use commodities. Export control is delegated to national authorities, as provided for in the EAEU Agreement,” the ministry stated.
Kazakhstan has halted supply of 106 product categories to Russia in response to anti-Russian sanctions, according to Vice Minister Kairat Torebayev.
