Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Sätqaliev advised Kazakh citizens not to switch their cars to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
“The ministry will not allow sharp price increases, but if there is a shortage of exports, the price of car gas will correspond to export prices,” Sätqaliev said.
He stated that the consumption of liquefied petroleum gas exceeded the planned volume.
“I will say, for example, that in October, at the beginning of the year, they planned to produce and supply 124 thousand tons of liquefied petroleum gas to the domestic market. In fact, consumption in October amounted to 144 thousand tons, which is 20 thousand more than planned,” Sätqaliev added.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy has drawn up a draft order to ban the export of liquefied gas by road for three years and by rail for six months, due to its increased consumption.
In 2022, it achieved 28% growth in the domestic market compared to 2021. At the same time, the growth of consumption for six months in 2023 compared to the same period last year amounted to about 100 thousand tons.
