Tajikistan’s President, Imam Ali Rahmon, met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, Khaled Al-Falih, on the sidelines of the emergency meeting of the Heads of the OIC Member States in Al-Riyadh.
The meeting discussed issues related to the participation and assistance of Saudi business and investment in the implementation of small and large economic and social projects in Tajikistan.
The parties also considered the development and expansion of trade and economic cooperation to be one of the main areas of joint action between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.
Parties relevant to Saudi Arabia’s investment in various sectors of Tajikistan’s national economy, including light industries, textiles, pharmaceutical industry, production of building materials, metals, and energy, and the establishment of a fund or joint company between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia to support SMEs to exchange views on medium-sized investment projects in Tajikistan.
At the same time, the parties exchanged views on the issue of opening direct airlines on the Dushanbe-Jeddah route and the organization of direct airlines between other cities in Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia.
The Government of Tajikistan announced its readiness to provide the necessary concessions and exemptions to Saudi investors on the basis of current legislation.
