Kazakhstan’s domestic trade volume, from January to October 2023, reached 47 trillion tenge, 20.6% more than the same period last year, according to Finprom reports.
“More than two-thirds of domestic trade volume, or 32.2 trillion tenge, accounted for wholesale trade, which is 19.8% more than from January to October 2022,” according to Finprom.
Retail trade was 14.8 trillion tenge, 22.6% more than the previous year.
“More than two-thirds of the total volume of wholesale trade by region represents Almaty (12.3 trillion tenge), Astana (5.3 trillion tenge), and Atyrau (4.8 trillion tenge). In retail, just over half the size is located in three regions: Almaty (4.8 trillion tenge), Astana (1.9 trillion tenge), and Karaganda (1.2 trillion tenge),” according to the report.
In the wholesale trade structure from January to October 2023, 82.5% were non-food products: 26.6 trillion tenge—24.2% more compared to January–October 2022.
Wholesale trade in food products was 5.6 trillion tenge, 2.6% more than the previous year.
“Non-food products in retail trade stood at 67.6%, or 10 trillion tenge, an increase of 29.5% during the year. Food products reached 4.8 trillion tenge, 10.3% more than the previous year”, according to Finprom reports.
Investments in trade are increasing for the third consecutive year.
From January to October 2023, capital investments in wholesale and retail trade, as well as car and motorcycle repair, reached 364.1 billion tenge. This is 45.5% more than in the same period of 2022.
Industry wages also showed growth: according to the results of the third quarter of 2023, the average monthly salary was 317.6 thousand tenge—18.8% more than a year earlier.
