Central Asia ranks 5th in the world in terms of the size of irrigated land, according to the Eurasian Development Bank’s report on effective irrigation and water supply in Central Asia.
The top 5 regions (countries) in irrigated land size include: China (75.7 million hectares); India (70.4 million hectares); the United States (26.7 million hectares); and Pakistan (20 million hectares).
“Central Asia: 10.1 million hectares.. Uzbekistan: 4.3 million hectares; Kazakhstan: 2.2 million hectares; Turkmenistan: 1.8 million hectares; Kyrgyzstan: 1 million hectares; Tajikistan: 0.8 million hectares,” according to the Eurasian Development Bank’s report.
