The UAE’s minister of state for foreign trade, Thani Al Zeyoudi, said that the UAE plans to reach its total investments in renewable energy at $100 billion over the next 8 years, up from $50 billion.
“The UAE’s clean energy production capacity has reached 20 GW, revealing that his country has invested in renewable energy over the past 16 years in more than 70 countries,” Al Zeyoudi explained.
The UAE’s minister of state for foreign trade considered that the carbon taxes imposed by some states were insufficient to achieve sustainable trade.
“For the first time, the topic of trade is addressed at COP28 to alert everyone to its close association with environmental and emission issues, from the use of energy in production and then the process of shipping and transporting goods to the consumer’s orientation towards environmentally friendly products,” Al Zeyoudi added.
