The UAE’s minister of state for foreign trade, Thani Al Zeyoudi, said that the country’s e-commerce business would be worth $9.2 billion by 2026, owing to rapid development.
Al Zeyoudi emphasized the critical need to mobilize international efforts to secure the sustainability of supply chains through digitalization and modern technology.
“This strategy is no longer a luxury but a critical aspect of solving climate concerns, citing World Bank research that shows global commerce generates up to 25% of total carbon emissions,” Al Zeyoudi told Emirati News Agency “WAM.”
He emphasized the UAE’s collaboration with the World Economic Forum to create the Trade Tech Initiative, which aims to accelerate the digitalization of international supply chains, improve customs procedures, and increase the involvement of emerging nations in the global trade system.
Al-Zeyoudi stressed the Commerce Tech Initiative’s importance in modernizing global trade by harnessing Fourth Industrial Revolution capabilities to replace the time-consuming and inefficient paper-based processes that now dominate supply chains.
