Kazakhstani firm Astana Motors and Chinese automaker Chery International have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
The signing ceremony took place following Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar’s visit to the Chinese city of Hefei.
The agreement calls for the expansion of strategic collaboration between the aforementioned Kazakhstani and Chinese firms in the sphere of joint building of a car manufacturing park in the Almaty Industrial Zone.
In addition, the Kazakh delegation toured and learned about the major operations of two of China’s leading automotive businesses, JAC Group (JAC Xinggang) and JAC NIO, as well as the Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone and the Chinese energy company Sungrow Power Supply.
Kazakhstan’s commercial turnover with China reached $24.1 billion in 2022, up 34.1 percent from the previous year.
