Dubai has been awarded the hosting rights for the 21st edition of the MedInfo World Congress, which is considered the main meeting of the International Medical Informatics Association. This makes Dubai the first city in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region to host this prominent event, highlighting the emirate’s status as a leading destination for major international events and conferences.
The efforts of the Health Informatics Department of the Emirates Medical Association, supported by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the Dubai Health Authority, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, and the Emirates Health Foundation, alongside other partners, contributed to winning the hosting of this important event. The spotlight was shed on the capabilities of Dubai, with its global reputation and exceptional record in hosting international business events, as well as its focus on innovation, digital readiness, and sustainability in various fields, including healthcare.
The Global Conference on Medical Informatics, held every two years, will bring together a group of world thought leaders and experts in the field of health information and bio-medicine. Additionally, the conference will provide an opportunity for participants to exchange scientific ideas on the latest studies and research, as well as the possibility of holding official meetings, and strengthening the network of relationships among members of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).
Dubai’s victory in hosting the 2027 World Conference on Medical Informatics reflects the confidence of international associations across various specialties and sectors, including healthcare, in the city’s immense capabilities to host their meetings and gatherings. This further enhances the emirate’s position as an important hub for knowledge exchange, professional development, and communication. The success also embodies the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors, as it highlights the city’s attributes as an ideal destination for hosting such conferences.
“In line with the ambitious vision of our wise leadership and our commitment to achieving the goals of Dubai’s economic agenda D33, Dubai continues to solidify its position as a global center for trade, business, and innovation, as well as attracting talented professionals and investments. This conference will provide participants with a unique opportunity to learn more about the unique attributes of the emirate, which is close to many key markets, as well as its modern facilities and advanced infrastructure. We will continue to support the healthcare IT sector through the Emirates Medical Association during the planning and preparation stages of this event, in order to increase the number of participants and ensure its success leaves a lasting legacy and significant impact.”
