On Thursday, in Cairo, the Abu Dhabi Ports Group signed a preliminary agreement with the General Authority for Red Sea Ports to construct, develop, manage, operate, market, maintain, and hand back passenger terminals and tourist ship docks at the ports of Hurghada, Safaga, and Sharm El-Sheikh.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, the Egyptian Minister of Transport; Ahmed Al-Mutawa, the regional CEO for the Middle East for Abu Dhabi Ports Group; and Major General Mohamed Abdel Rahim, the Chairman of the General Authority for Red Sea Ports.
Kamel El Wazir clarified that the initial signing pertains to a different type of tourism, namely cruise tourism, which is expected to contribute to an increase in the national income, providing both direct and indirect benefits such as job creation, revenues for factories, and the tourist destinations frequented by travelers, as well as various tourist activities.
Ahmed Al Mutawa expressed his pleasure over this significant signing for both parties, noting that it marks a continuation of the strong cooperation between Abu Dhabi Ports Group and the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in executing numerous projects. He also mentioned that there are other projects ahead which will involve collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in the coming period.
