Yesterday, the fourth meeting of the Supreme Committee for Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development was held in the Bahraini capital, Manama.
The United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain gather in their conference of industry ministers in these four countries, in addition to the presence of Ryad Mezzour, the Minister of Industry and Trade in the Kingdom of Morocco.
The meetings were held in the presence of Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, and witnessed the joining of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Comprehensive Industrial Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Economic Development. With this, the Kingdom of Morocco becomes the fifth country to join this partnership in a short period of time, which constitutes an additional step in the journey of growth and regional industrial integration.
The integrated industrial partnership for sustainable economic development has received strong support from member countries since its implementation in Abu Dhabi in May 2022.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the State, praised the launch of the partnership as a framework for cooperation and integration among the countries of the region, and for enhancing their integration in order to achieve sustainable development and enhance their response to shared challenges and global crises, as well as expanding self-reliance, particularly in vital sectors related to national security such as food, health, energy, industry, and others.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Vice President of the State, and President of the Presidential Diwan, attended the ceremony announcing the partnership between the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Arab Republic of Egypt. Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, the Prime Minister of Jordan, and Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, were also in attendance.
Growth and expansion
The addition of Morocco is considered a significant new addition to the goals of growth and expansion of the “comprehensive industrial partnership for sustainable economic development”. Morocco is distinguished by advanced industrial capabilities in areas such as automobile manufacturing, renewable energy, aviation, textiles, pharmaceuticals, phosphates, mining, and food industries.
In addition to Morocco’s strong talents and capabilities, advanced infrastructure, and significant partnerships it has with numerous countries around the world.
The meetings began with the presence of Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce in Bahrain, Engineer Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry in Egypt, Yusuf Al Shammali, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply in Jordan, and Mr. Riad Mazour, Minister of Industry and Trade in the Kingdom of Morocco.
Agreements and projects
During the fourth high committee meetings, an agreement was signed between W Motors and Newton Motors from the UAE, and Jordan’s Manaseer Company to establish an electric car factory in Jordan with an investment value of up to 80 million dollars. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Bahraini and Jordanian Phosphate Mines to supply 13,000 tons of aluminum annually, equivalent to a value of 20 million dollars, in order to contribute to replacing imports worth 20 million dollars.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Bahrain Company and Manaseer Company in Jordan for the supply of silica material, replacing $66 million of imports. Additionally, a supply agreement was signed from Bahrain Iron Company to Emirates Iron Company to purchase 2 million tons of raw materials over 5 years, valued at $2 billion.
An agreement of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology in the UAE and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the Kingdom of Bahrain regarding cooperation in the field of utilizing the Emirati National Content Program, which has achieved significant success in supporting the growth of the industrial sector, enhancing its competitiveness, and encouraging investment in the UAE.
At the beginning of his speech at the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber conveyed his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the country, and expressed his wishes for the partnership countries to achieve further success in accomplishing the desired goals. This is in order to enhance sustainable economic development and strengthen the brotherly relations among the partner countries, and to support the utilization of the competitive advantages and great potentials of each member country in this partnership.
As a Moroccan brother, the Kingdom of Morocco’s joining of the Industrial Integration Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development was warmly welcomed. He expressed confidence that this step would enhance the common interests of all members due to Morocco’s advanced industrial and economic status and its continuous successes in all sectors, especially the industrial sector, which is considered a vital element that supports high-quality investment opportunities.
In relation to the leadership’s vision, it is believed in the United Arab Emirates that establishing strategic partnerships is a key factor in achieving economic, social, and developmental goals. The integrated industrial partnership serves as an excellent model for a success story that began in Abu Dhabi in May 2022. We are pleased to witness the announcement and signing of 5 new projects and supply agreements in vital and prioritized sectors, valued at approximately $2.2 billion.
