In 2023, the Emirate of Dubai welcomed a record-breaking number of international visitors, totaling 17.15 million, which signifies a 19.4 percent annual increase compared to the 14.36 million tourists recorded in 2022.
This figure surpasses the previous record of 16.73 million visitors set in 2019, according to the latest statistics from Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism.
The robust performance of Dubai’s tourism sector is in alignment with the objectives of its ’33D Economic Agenda’, launched at the beginning of 2023 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him.
This agenda aims to elevate Dubai’s status to become one of the top three economic cities in the world, and to realize the ambitious vision of making it the best city to live, work, and visit.
On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, affirmed that the tourism sector’s achievement in Dubai of delivering its best performance and recording a record number of international visitors to the emirate is evidence of being on the right path in implementing the vision and directions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for the future of Dubai’s economy and the ambitious targets he has set for its key sectors, which are included in Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda.
His Highness stated, “The achieved results reflect the solid foundations of an economy that boasts high levels of flexibility and is built on stimulating innovation and creativity across all its sectors.
The robust partnerships that Dubai has established with the private sector have enhanced the performance of its tourism sector and enabled it to overcome difficult challenges that the world is still experiencing the repercussions of.”
His Highness added, “We are continuing to work closely with our partners to achieve further growth in the coming stage.
Diversifying the tourist product and expanding the range of options available to visitors enhances Dubai’s attractiveness and affirms its competitiveness among the top tourist destinations.
Our goal is to lead the global competitiveness rankings in this sector.”
