Similar laws already exist in France, Spain, and other countries in the European Union, granting employees the freedom to switch off their devices after work hours.
Australian Minister for Employment, Tony Burke, has revealed that the majority of members of the Senate have expressed their support for the proposed legislation, which will be presented to Parliament at a later date.
This provision aims to prevent employees from engaging in unpaid overtime and grants them the right to disconnect outside of working hours.
