In a recent development, cybersecurity firm Group-IB has unveiled the presence of a malicious software dubbed “GoldPickaxe,” categorized as a Trojan, targeting iPhone and iPad users to steal their banking accounts.
According to Group-IB, the GoldPickaxe software was initially designed to target the Android operating system before successfully transitioning to attack iPhone and iPad users.
The company claims that this software could potentially be the first Trojan-type malware for the iOS operating system on Apple devices.
It poses a high level of danger as it can harvest facial recognition data, identity documents, and text messages, making it capable of siphoning users’ bank accounts.
This discovery raises concerns about the security of iOS devices and emphasizes the importance of staying vigilant against such cyber threats.
Users are advised to update their security measures and exercise caution while handling sensitive information on their devices to mitigate the risk of falling victim to similar malicious attacks.
