Apple is working on developing a smart ring that can be worn on one finger to monitor the user’s health measurements.
According to a new report published by the Korean tech website Electronic Times, Apple is closely eyeing the market, looking for signs that the smart ring could be a popular alternative to smartwatches, as it can be worn for longer periods and is easier to sleep with compared to smartwatches.
For several years, Apple has been studying the concept of a wearable ring, as evidenced by many related patents. With Samsung ready to launch its own product in the market, this may be the perfect time for Apple to introduce a smart ring.
It is said that Apple is currently seriously considering the idea of a smart ring, as it prepares to expand its lineup of wearable devices.
These recent rumors related to a supposed Apple product come after Samsung officially announced earlier this year its intention to launch a smart ring. It is expected to be unveiled in the middle of this year and released in the market during the second half of the year, alongside the launch of the new versions of its foldable phones.
According to recent rumors, it is said that the Samsung smart ring will be available in different sizes, and will measure blood flow, oxygen saturation levels, monitor the electrical activity of the heart, and track sleep, in addition to other features for controlling home devices and remote electronic payments.
It is worth mentioning that there are indeed companies that offer similar products, such as the Finnish company Oura, which has sold over a million units of its smart rings since its launch in 2015.
