The National Federal Council is hosting, in collaboration with the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the European Parliament, the Abu Dhabi session of the Parliamentary Conference for the World Trade Organization, coinciding with the organization’s 13th Ministerial Conference, tomorrow, Sunday, February 25th at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
Preceding the Parliamentary Conference is the 53rd session of its steering committee, taking place today, Saturday, February 24th, 2024, with the participation of Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi, a committee member and reporter of the conference outcomes.
This session will discuss the conference’s final document.
The agenda for the Parliamentary Conference includes opening speeches by Saqr Ghobash, the president of the National Federal Council; representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Union; a representative of the President of the European Parliament; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of the organization; and Athaliah Lesiba Molokomme, the President of the organization’s General Council.
There will also be an interactive dialogue with senior negotiators and officials from the organization and parliaments worldwide titled “Abu Dhabi and Beyond: Shaping and Strengthening a Multilateral Trading System that Serves All”, a session to present reports and interactive discussions on the topic “Trade and Climate Change: A Win-Win Interaction”, and the subject “Digital Trade in the Age of Resilient Economies”.
Additionally, the final document of the conference will be adopted.
