The Malaysian Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Dato’ Seri Zafarul Abdul Aziz, said that Malaysia aims to sign a free trade agreement with the United Arab Emirates by the end of June, which could boost Emirati investments in Malaysia, according to “The Edge Malaysia” website. Negotiations between the two countries on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement began last year.
During a meeting at the World Trade Organization in Abu Dhabi, Abdelaziz Zaferol announced that they are in the final stages of the discussions.
After signing the agreement, Malaysia hopes that the UAE will invest in sectors such as energy, digital economy, electric vehicles, and chips. Mubadala Investment Company, which is already an investor in Malaysia, is considered a key partner in this context.
