Non-ferrous metals industry association data revealed that China’s non-ferrous metals sector registered a rapid expansion in production during the first quarter of 2023.
Chen Xiue Sen, Vice President of the Federation of Non-ferrous Metals Industries, told a conference that the industrial value added of key companies operating in this sector expanded 5.8 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of this year.
Production of 10 types of non-ferrous metals had reached 18.26 million tons in the period, up 9 per cent year-on-year.
The figures were calculated on the volume of production of 10 types of non-ferrous metals in the new list, including copper, aluminium, lead, zinc, nickel, tin, antimony, silicon, magnesium and titanium.
Compared to the old version of the said list, silicone was included in the new list while mercury was removed. Data showed that investment in fixed assets in industry rose 11.9 per cent year-on-year, up 1.2 percentage points from the same period last year.
