Abu Dhabi Ports Group has signed a preliminary agreement with Simorgh invest, the owner and developer of the multipurpose marine terminal “sarzha” at Kuryk port, for potential investment in the grain terminal at Kuryk port in Kazakhstan. The parties aim to establish a joint venture for the investment, operation and development of the terminal, turning it into a multipurpose marine terminal.
The agreement was signed by Abdulaziz Zayed Al Shamsi, regional CEO of the group, and nurzan marabayev, general manager of the company, in the presence of Marat Karabayev, Minister of industry and infrastructure development of Kazakhstan, Almas aidarov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, and Rinat bektorov, governor of the Astana International Financial Center.
“This strategic step comes at a delicate stage, which confirms the group’s commitment to expand its presence in the Central Asian region,”he added.
“The Caspian ports have emerged as focal points in the fast-growing global logistics supply chain, and the cooperation between the two parties will contribute to the possibility of creating a new impetus in the development of ports in Kazakhstan, given the pioneering experience of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group,”marabayev stressed.
This agreement follows a memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year with the Ministry of industry and infrastructure development for Strategic Cooperation in the development of a naval fleet and coastal infrastructure in the Caspian and Black Seas.
