Uzbekistan’s first Deputy Minister of Transport, Mamanbiy Omarov, met with Asian Development Bank (ADB) personnel to address financing concerns for the Green Climate Fund’s Electric Vehicle Program.
A $170 million budget has been suggested to fund this initiative in seven nations, including Uzbekistan. Grants total $65 million, with loan funding totaling $105 million.
The funding will be used to reduce impediments to commercial electric car adoption, as well as to deploy a fleet of electric buses and accompanying infrastructure and to improve public transportation.
The program consists of four areas that complement government strategy in order to improve the industry.
