The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has decided to assist the Kyrgyz Republic in developing new PPP projects.
A memorandum of agreement was signed on the margins of the Second International PPP Conference in Kyrgyzstan to formalize the collaboration.
“Mobilizing private sector financing to expand PPPs in Kyrgyzstan would promote economic growth, generate employment, and improve people’s quality of life,” stated ADB Country Director for Kyrgyzstan Zheng Wu.
“The ADB has a lengthy history of executing PPPs in the area. We have begun working with government agencies and stakeholders to help Kyrgyzstan realize its enormous renewable energy potential,” he added.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will assist the Kyrgyz PPP Center in finding, developing, and implementing PPP projects, drawing on its extensive PPP development expertise in Asia and the Pacific.
ADB will provide assistance to both central and regional authorities, including policy and regulatory advice on PPP deals, as well as optimizing commercial value within the country’s economic and political framework.
“We are excited to cooperate with ADB to improve public-private engagement in the nation and attract foreign investment, technology, and innovation,” said Sanzhar Bolotov, Director General of the Kyrgyz PPP Center in the National Investment Agency.
“We have closely watched ADB’s strong work in PPPs in Central Asia and elsewhere, and we want to gain the benefits that PPPs provide,” Bolotov added.
