The authorities in Uzbekistan announced the official inauguration of the Coordination Office’s project to build the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan railway in the capital, Tashkent.
The aim of the project office is to coordinate joint actions to develop the project’s technical and economic justifications and accelerate the practical implementation of the project.
Participants in the event emphasized the timely opening of the project office and the direction of Parties’ actions to accelerate project implementation.
Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan have been working on this project since 2018, but it has been disrupted by political events in some of the project’s participating countries.
The opening of the project’s office in the city of Tashkent will allow for a more efficient face-to-face organization of the work of the parties’ experts, as well as the possible transfer of millions of tons of natural resources and other goods from Russia and Central Asia to South Asian States during the implementation of the project.
From 11 to 12 May this year, the upcoming tripartite negotiations on the further development of the railway construction project between Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan were held. Parties discussed issues related to accelerating the project’s implementation.
