Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Thursday expressed his country’s quest to boost the volume of bilateral trade with Tajikistan and seek common economic opportunities.
During a joint press conference with the President of Tajikistan, Imam Ali Rahmon, Tokayev said: “The results of the visit once again reaffirmed the special character and great prospects for cooperation between our two countries, our first goal being to promote trade and economic interaction. Thanks to joint efforts, last year bilateral trade reached $1.4 billion. “
He revealed the two States’ agreement to take further steps to further promote mutual trade to at least $2 billion, amid the quest to increase it.
“Kazakh producers are ready to increase their exports to Tajikistan with 60 goods totalling US $140 million. Our country may increase the supply to Tajikistan of a wide range of goods – from foodstuffs to rail equipment and rail vehicles “.
