Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, prime minister and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the largest new project in the public transport sector in Dubai, at a cost of AED 18 billion.
“Thank God we have approved the largest new project in the public transport sector in Dubai, the route of the blue line of the Dubai Metro,” the ruler of Dubai wrote on his official account via the X platform on Friday.
“With a length of 30 km, half of it is underground with depths of up to 70 meters, and at a cost of 18 billion dirhams, “he added.
He stated that the project “covers areas with a population of up to one million people, such as Dubai Creek Marina, Festival City, International City, Rashidiya, Al-Raqqa and Mirdif, and urban areas such as Silicon Oasis, Academic City and others, and the new line will transport 320 thousand new passengers daily”.
He continued: “the Dubai Metro is part of the spirit of Dubai, and Dubai’s daily life is connected to it, connected through it and interconnected with all its neighborhoods and residents by its existence, it has been used by 2 billion people since its launch in 2009, and billions of people will use it for decades to come, God willing”.
