On Thursday, China completed the construction of the longest deep-water oil and gas pipeline as part of its efforts to expand the construction of long-water deep-water pipeline and equipment technologies, the Chinese television channel CGTN reported.
The construction of the longest deep-water oil and gas pipeline is a key pillar of the Xinhai-1 phase II project, or Deep Sea-1.
DIP C1 is the first deep-water gas field independently discovered and developed by China and the world’s first semi-submersible oil production and storage platform with a capacity of 100 thousand tons.
The Deep Sea-1 field came into operation in June 2021
Construction on the Phase II project began in November 2022 and is located about 130 kilometres from Sanya, Hainan province, between the “Yashing 13-1” gas field and the “Xinhai-1” field.
The maximum operating depth in the longest deep water oil and gas pipeline reaches about 1000 meters.
Once operational, the phase II project is expected to raise the peak production of the Xinhai-1 gas field from 3 billion cubic metres to 4.5 billion cubic metres.
