China was declared the world’s top auto exporter, after overtaking Japan in the first three months of the year.
According to official figures released last week, China exported 1.07 million vehicles over the period, up 58% from the first quarter of 2022.
At the same time, Japanese car exports were 954 thousand and 185 cars, up 6% from the previous year.
China overtook Germany to become the world’s second largest auto exporter last year.
China managed to export 3.2 million vehicles in 2022, compared with 2.6 million in Germany.
The shift from fossil fuels in the automotive industry helped China achieve these sales.
Exports of new energy vehicles in the first quarter of this year, including electric vehicles, rose by more than 90% compared to the previous year.
