The Chinese Iron and Steel Association announced the expansion of China’s steel sector production in the first quarter of 2023.
Between January and March, crude steel production rose 6.1% year-on-year to 262 million tons, the report said.
Crude iron production rose 7.6% from the previous year to 220 million tons during the period.
Crude iron production rose 8.1% year-on-year to 78.07 million tons last month, while rolled steel increased 8.1% year-on-year, according to the association.
On the other hand, a report by the World Steel Association showed crude steel production for 63 countries rose 1.7% during March year-on-year, registering 165.1 million tons.
