Wang Chunying, the spokesperson for the China National Foreign Exchange Administration, confirmed that her country has seen growth in foreign trade in 2023, leading to a significant surplus in the current account.
According to the latest figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics, China achieved a surplus in goods trade amounting to 608 billion US dollars last year.
This marks the second highest level in China’s history, as reported by the People’s Daily newspaper online.
The organization pointed out that the current account surplus as a percentage of China’s gross domestic product reached 1.5% at the end of 2023, reflecting the overall stability of China’s economy.
Data from the Chinese National Foreign Exchange Administration showed that China’s current account surplus reached 264.2 billion dollars in 2023, enhancing China’s economic position globally.
