LNG supplies from Russia to China rose from January to April 2023 by 50% year-on-year, reaching 2.14 million tons.
According to data from China’s General Administration of Customs, the value of China’s imports of Russian gas increased by 26.3%, exceeding $1.65 billion.
In terms of the material volume of LNG purchased by China, Russia ranks fourth, according to the Russian agency “TASS”.
In the first four months of this year, Australia was the main supplier of LNG to China, selling 6.8 million tons to China (a decrease of 8.5%) and a value of $4.61 billion.
Qatar ranked second with exports of 5.8 million tons worth $3.94 billion, followed by Malaysia with about 2.2 million tons worth $1.64 billion.
According to Chinese customs, the supply of liquefied natural gas from Russia to China in April fell by 9.6% compared to March, reaching 529.8 thousand tons, and decreased in value by 15.9% to $337.25 million.
Russian oil exports to China from January to April rose by 26.5% year-on-year, reaching about 32.4 million tons. Russia continues to lead in terms of China’s oil exports.
In value terms, China’s imports of Russian oil decreased during the same period by 1.5% compared to the same period last year, to $17.44 billion.
