Ban Hau-min, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Chinese National Energy Administration, affirmed that China contributed more than 50% to the global increase in renewable energy production, which reached 510 million kilowatts in 2023.
The Chinese newspaper, People’s Daily, quoted Pan as saying that China plays a crucial role in the global development of clean energy. He pointed out the expansion of Chinese companies’ investments in clean energy internationally, which now includes a variety of sectors such as wind energy, solar energy, and hydroelectric power.
He added that his country continues to support the sectors of technological innovation and provide high-quality clean energy products to the world, indicating that these products have been exported to more than 200 countries and regions worldwide.
He also mentioned that the cumulative value of China’s exports of these products reached over $33.4 billion for wind energy and $245.3 billion for photovoltaic products.
According to a report by the International Renewable Energy Agency, the world has witnessed a decrease in the average cost of electricity generated through wind and solar power projects worldwide.
This decrease has exceeded 60% and 80% respectively over the past decade. It is emphasized that Chinese innovations, along with Chinese products and projects, have played a crucial role in achieving this progress.(WAM)
