Data from the Shanghai Metal Exchange showed on Thursday that during the period from January to June of this year 2023, China imported about 430,500 tons of primary aluminum, a slight increase year-on-year.
While China’s imports of basic aluminum during last June amounted to about 89,400 tons, recording an increase of 20.7% on a monthly basis, with an increase of 213.6% compared to the same month last year.
While the total Chinese primary aluminum exports, in June 2023, recorded about 32,900 tons, an increase of 187% from the previous May, and 400% higher compared to June 2022.
Over the first half of 2023, China’s exports of semi-finished aluminum reached 2.636 million tons, recording a decrease of 18% from last year, according to official Shanghai stock exchange data.
