The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai announced that the total number of travelers arriving and departing through air, land, and sea ports from December 27, 2023, to January 1, 2024, reached 1,239,628 individuals.
The highest number of travelers was recorded on December 30, 2023, with 224,380 travelers, reflecting Dubai’s status as a favored destination for people from all around the world.
Dubai’s airports, land ports, and seaports welcomed a large number of travelers looking to spend their New Year’s holiday in Dubai. Passport officers at Dubai’s airports processed 1,136,144 incoming and outgoing passengers, while the land ports saw 76,376 travelers arriving and departing.
The maritime ports also experienced the arrival and departure of 27,108 passengers. In total, the various entry points saw 693,018 passengers arrive in Dubai, compared to 546,610 passengers leaving.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, the Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, affirmed that the record numbers achieved by Dubai’s airports, and its land and maritime ports during this period reflect the city’s allure and status as a prime destination for individuals from all around the world.
He expressed his pride in Dubai’s ability and reputation, which has been recognized by the millions of people who chose to celebrate New Year’s Eve there. He clarified that Dubai’s residency department, its airports, and ports continue to offer exceptional experiences to visitors throughout the year.
He further mentioned that these numbers reflect the positive engagement of tourists and travelers with Dubai as a unique tourist destination. They highlight the ongoing efforts of Dubai’s administration to bolster its status as a premier tourist destination both regionally and globally.
He pointed out that the significant influx of visitors to Dubai’s entry points translates to travelers’ desire to revel in a unique festive atmosphere and a rich experience during the New Year’s holiday. Annually, this time is marked by the organization of special events and entertainment shows that add an exceptional charm to this distinguished period of the year.
To add more joy and create a festive atmosphere in preparation for the New Year’s celebrations of 2024, Dubai airports welcomed children arriving with their families by featuring their favorite cartoon characters, Salem and Salama.
