China’s direct economic losses developed as a result of natural disasters, rising to 41.18 billion yuan (equivalent to 5.74 billion dollars) in July, this figure exceeds the total losses incurred by the country from January to June, due to the severe weather conditions witnessed by China, the country was hit by two strong typhoons within one month, according to “Reuters”.
Although floods are common in China during the summer, their impact has clearly increased this year, affecting more than 7 million people across the country in July, when Beijing experienced the worst rainfall in 140 years, after the hottest June in the capital’s history.
August is expected to have a greater economic impact as a result of increased rainfall and higher temperatures in China’s Season, China’s national forecaster warned that rainfall in the northeastern provinces could be up to 50% higher than normal in August, and this is likely to exacerbate flooding and higher temperatures, causing additional economic impact.
