Saudi Arabia won another global event after Riyadh was selected to host the World Expo 2030, as the oil-rich kingdom looks to boost tourism and appear in a new gown.
The International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE) in Paris said that Riyadh had beaten Busan and Rome by far, with 119 votes, while the Korean city had 29 votes and Italy’s capital had only 17 votes.
The World Expo, which is held every five years, will be a guest of the kingdom in the period from October 2030 to March 2031. This will be the second time the Middle East will host this event after Dubai hosted “Expo 2020,” which was delayed due to the pandemic.
The Saudi government said it plans to spend 7.8 billion dollars to organize the exhibition if it accepts the Saudi Organization’s file, which was titled “Era of Change: Together for an Enlightened Tomorrow.”
Global Events in Saudi Arabia
The 2034 FIFA World Cup is also expected to degrade its travelers in Saudi Arabia as it runs out of competition to host the tournament. The Kingdom will also host the 2029 Asian Winter Games in a mountain resort in Neom, an all-new real estate development project costing $500 billion in northwest Saudi Arabia.
