Hong Kong is one of the most expensive cities in the world for expats

Hong Kong has become one of the top cities for expatriates to work and tourism, according to CNB Arabia.New York City, for example, remains the most expensive city in North America, and the sixth most expensive in the world.

But still, Americans moving to work and live abroad may not be a solution to escape from the expensive.. This is according to Mercer’s 2023 Cost of Living Ranking, which ranks 227 cities on five continents, comparing the cost of goods and services in each location.

According to the rating, the city of Hong Kong won the title of the most expensive city in the world for American expats, settling at the top of the list for the second year in a row.
It is worth noting that 3 of the 10 Most Expensive Cities on the list were in East Asia, while there were 5 European ones, of which 4 were in Switzerland.

As for the United States, the data found that the cost of living has increased in all the American cities analyzed.

In the global ranking, New York took sixth place, followed by Los Angeles (11th place), San Francisco (14th place) and Honolulu (15th place).
In addition, Detroit, Houston and Cleveland have seen the largest increases in the cost of living among US cities this year.
