Russia and Tajikistan have strong relations in several areas, primarily economic, especially in the field of energy, as well as cooperation in technology and education.
Among these, the presidency in Tajikistan reported President Imam Ali Rahmon’s telephone contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss relations between the two countries and cooperation between them, particularly economic cooperation.
Last March, Russia and Tajikistan signed more than 20 documents on cooperation in industry, science, technology, education and investment within the framework of the Ninth Conference on Regional Cooperation between the two countries.
The agreements signed between the two countries included cooperation between the two academies of science, the establishment of a joint project to produce “antimony”.
More than 30 officials from Russian ministries and departments and more than 300 businessmen from the two countries participated in the conference.
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Tajik capital last year, his first foreign visit since the start of the military operation in Ukraine. Putin and his Tajik counterpart confirmed that Moscow and Dushanbe had deep ties.
Putin praised the contributions of Tajik citizens working in Russia, saying they were “contributing to the economic development of the country and acting as a bridge between the two countries”, noting that bilateral trade between the two countries had recently broken records.
