With the world accelerating towards sustainable solutions, the Middle East finds itself at a crucial intersection between innovation and environmental responsibility. Shedding light on this transformative path, the Electric Vehicle Exhibition and Conference (EVIS 2024) will host its third edition from May 20th to 22nd, 2024 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC). Spanning over 9,500 square meters, the event will showcase more than 200 brands, making it a pivotal event in the global electric transportation scene.
Nasser Ali Al Bahri, the General Manager of Nirvana Exhibitions and Conferences, says:
“This exhibition is not just an event but a dynamic platform representing the transformation of electric transportation in the Middle East and North Africa region. With governmental, quasi-governmental, and private institutions leading the movement towards sustainable transportation through various initiatives, the transformative impact will make a difference. The third edition of the exhibition is exciting with initiatives, including the Technology Oasis, startup company awards, universities, free trial tests for electric vehicle driving, and more thrilling activities that will shape the future of transportation.”
The Middle East region, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council states, faces a significant challenge in terms of sustainability, as they are among the highest emitters of individual greenhouse gases in the world due to their heavy reliance on fossil fuels.
It is known that each country has set ambitious goals to reduce emissions and adopt environmentally friendly practices, with a strong focus on transitioning towards sustainable transportation.
Through its updated National Electric Vehicle policy, the UAE aims to reduce energy consumption in the transportation sector by 20% and plans to deploy 914 electric vehicle charging stations by the end of 2023.
Additionally, the country aims to have 50% of its vehicles electric by the year 2050. Dubai, in alignment with this vision, plans to acquire 30% of government vehicles as electric or hybrid cars by 2023. The electric vehicle market in the UAE is estimated to be worth $249.90 million in 2023, representing 1% of the current car sector.
